THE TREE COUNCIL
Founded in 1974 the Tree Council promotes the improvement of the environment by the planting and conservation of trees and woods in town and country throughout the UK.
It is responsible for an annual programme that includes Seed Gathering Sunday, National Tree Week and Walk in the Woods month, supporting the groups organising local events.
It also co-ordinates the national volunteer Tree Warden scheme and operates a fund giving tree planting grants to schools and communities.

The local group for Wakefield is co-ordinated by Bill Lawery – WMDC Forestry and Arboricultural Manager with
Roger Parkinson, volunteer group chairman.

The Friends Group is one of more than 60 organisations to share grants from the Tree Council totalling more than £45,000.
Fund raising is only one aspect of the Friends of CHaT Parks work in protecting our heritage and developing the role of the three parks. The Group relies on public subscription, if you wish to find out more please e-mail our secretary at info@chatparks.org.uk
